PANA REMAINS PEACEFUL AND IDYLLIC

Panajachel (or “Pana”, as it is commonly known), is a small town on the north shore of Lake Atitlán, in Guatemala’s southwestern Highlands. It’s just under two hours away from La Antigua Guatemala, and is arguably only second to La Antigua as the nation’s most popular tourist destination.

Despite its popularity, however, Pana remains peaceful and idyllic, with a thriving artisan community and an abundance of natural beauty. It’s the perfect destination for a romantic getaway or an enjoyable family vacation.

Hotel La Posada de Don Rodrigo offers the following tours and excursions, to help you make the most of your time here in Panajachel. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please let us know!

Wildlife with a safe environment

Explore the splendor of local Panajachel wildlife on this special tour. The Panajachel Solola butterfly reserve, constructed several years ago as a means of providing butterflies and other wildlife with a safe environment in which to thrive, measures 5000 square meters. It includes roughly 300 live specimens of 10 different butterfly species, as well as a laboratory where you can observe the various stages of a butterfly’s life.

Start the tour at our reception center, and head up one of several trails to the top of the mountain. If you have extra time and you’re adventurous, we recommend participating in an exhilarating canopy (zipline) tour before visiting the butterfly reserve, as well as spending time by the lake.
